Champagne is the world’s leading, delicious, premium sparkling wine , often chosen to be enjoyed during special celebrations or luxurious parties. Only sparkling wines produced in the Champagne region of France, according to methods and special standards here, are called Champagne . One of the important knowledge that Champagne lovers need to know is to distinguish between Champagne Vintage and Champagne Non-vintage .
Distinguishing Vintage and Non-vintage Champagne
Vintage Champagne (or French with Millésimé on the bottle label with the year) are Champagne lines produced from a specific vintage. This Champagne is usually produced from the best years, and is aged for a minimum of 3 years. Vintage Champagne can include any of the top three grapes used to make Champagne – Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier (or others). However, the wine must be aged for a minimum of three years in the bottle, as opposed to 15 months for Non-vintage Champagne.
These are Champagne bottles without the vintage – the year the grapes were harvested on the bottle label. This Champagne is blended from many different vintages, aging with yeast residue for a minimum of 15 months. Non-vintage Champagne is usually Champagne lines that represent the style of each Champagne house. Non-vintage Champagne from top names like Champagne Charles Heidsieck , Champagne Billecart Salmon … are “good value” lines – good price compared to quality.
Premium Vintage Champagne Wines
Charles Heidsieck Blanc des Millénaires 2007 is a vintage Champagne that Champagne lovers should not miss. 2007 was a favorable year for Chardonnay. The wine is attractive at first sight with its clear greenish-yellow color. The characteristic mineral, chalky aromas of the Cote des Blancs make this wine extremely attractive. Each scent of citrus, grapefruit, quince blends with the scent of smoke, bringing a wonderful youthful feeling. A lively sparkling wine with sharp acidity, reminiscent of the impressive flavors of the 2004 vintage. This Champagne has a firm texture, seductive flavors with accents of lemon meringue and brine. The aftertaste is long and full of life.
