Wine bottles are always an endless inspiration for True Wine team. To make premium wines, excellent grape varieties are indispensable. That’s why today let’s learn about the sweet Montepulciano grape variety.
Origin of the grape variety Montepulciano
The name Montepulciano is transliterated as “mon-ta-pull-channo”. This is the name given to the parish of Tuscany. This grape variety is currently grown in the central region of Italy. Especially the Abruzzo region with its valleys like Valle Peligna is particularly famous.
This grape variety is characterized by very persistent growth. However, only a few regions can produce the best quality grapes. These regions can be mentioned: Pescara, Teramo, Chieti and L’Aquila. Lands with different climates and soils have their own flavor and little bit of character.
Wines made with Montepulciano grapes are usually red wines. Although it is a type of grape that needs a long time to grow, the fermentation time of this grape variety is quite fast.
Wines made from Montepulciano grapes are also quite high in tannins. When it comes to the color of these wines, they are mostly ruby-violet in color. When the wine is over 10 years old, the bottles turn a very eye-catching brown color.
The color of a bottle of wine is the first thing we see. Therefore, the bottles made from this special grape variety can attract you right from the first meeting.
The alcohol content of the wine bottles is also quite impressive, the taste is a bit wild, very instinctive but equally gentle. The mild sour taste after melting leads to the sweet taste that remains forever in the mouth of the person enjoying the wine.
All create a unique style for wines from Montepulciano. If we imagine it, we can see a gentle liberality but then a deep sweetness that is hard to fade. If you have the opportunity to enjoy wines made from this grape, remember to slowly feel this sweet aftertaste.
